Abstract

This study explores the concept of aflaha in the Qur'an through the perspective of Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani's Tafsir Marãh Labîd. The research addresses the lack of comprehensive studies on the concept of fortune in Islamic thought, particularly from the viewpoint of Nusantara scholars. The study aims to answer two main questions: (1) What is the meaning of aflaha according to Tafsir Marãh Labîd? and (2) How relevant is this concept to modern times? Using a qualitative approach and thematic interpretation method (tafsir maudhu'i), the research analyzes four key verses containing the term aflaha. The findings reveal that Syekh Nawawi's interpretation of aflaha encompasses both worldly and spiritual dimensions, emphasizing the purification of the soul and obedience to Allah as essential components of fortune. The study also demonstrates the relevance of this concept in addressing contemporary challenges such as materialism and mental health issues. The research concludes that the multidimensional understanding of aflaha in Tafsir Marãh Labîd offers a holistic approach to happiness that is highly pertinent to modern society.
