This research intends to explore the role and function of leadership within Islamic education. It utilizes a literature review approach. The findings and discussion emphasize that leadership in Islamic education involves directing, guiding, and managing educational institutions founded on Islamic values sourced from the Qur'an and Hadith. The function of Islamic educational leadership encompasses being a servant leader, which refers to a leader with a clear vision focused on developing a generation that thrives not just intellectually but also in moral integrity as guided by Islamic principles. Moreover, it acts as a protector, with Islamic educational leaders tasked with shielding educational institutions from detrimental influences that might jeopardize moral values and Islamic teachings within the education framework. Islamic educational leadership includes various functions such as instruction, consultation, participation, delegation, and oversight. When these five functions are applied in a balanced way, leadership in Islamic education can function effectively and aid in creating a higher-quality educational setting.
