Author Guidelines

General Information

FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, literature reviews, and case studies in the field of Islamic Education. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The journal is published biannually in June and December by the Faculty of Tarbiyah, Islamic Institute of Hasan Jufri Bawean.


Manuscript Preparation

Language

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear and academic English.

  • Authors are encouraged to ensure proper grammar, spelling, and language quality before submission.

File Format

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

  • Authors must use the official journal template provided by FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education.

Length of Manuscript

  • Manuscripts should generally range between 5,000–8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.


Article Structure

The manuscript should be organized in the following order:

1. Title

  • Written in English.

  • Concise, informative, and reflective of the article content.

  • Maximum 15 words.

  • Book Antiqua, 14 pt, bold, centered.

2. Author Information

Include:

  • Full name(s) of author(s) without academic titles;

  • Institutional affiliation;

  • Country;

  • Corresponding author's email address.

3. Abstract

  • Written in English.

  • Maximum 250 words.

  • Written in a single paragraph.

  • Contains:

    • Background;

    • Research objectives;

    • Methods;

    • Main findings;

    • Conclusion.

4. Keywords

  • Three to five keywords.

  • Listed below the abstract.

5. Introduction

The introduction should contain:

  • Research background;

  • Problem identification;

  • Research gap;

  • Relevant theories and previous studies;

  • Research objectives and significance.

This section should comprise approximately 20% of the manuscript.

6. Method

This section should explain:

  • Research design/approach;

  • Participants or research subjects;

  • Research instruments;

  • Data collection procedures;

  • Data analysis techniques.

The method section should comprise approximately:

  • 10% of the manuscript for qualitative studies;

  • Up to 15% for quantitative studies.

7. Findings and Discussion

Findings

Present research findings clearly using:

  • Tables;

  • Figures;

  • Charts;

  • Graphs;

  • Descriptive explanations.

All tables and figures must be numbered sequentially and referred to in the text.

Discussion

The discussion should:

  • Interpret findings critically;

  • Relate findings to previous studies;

  • Explain theoretical and practical implications;

  • Highlight contributions to Islamic Education research.

The Findings and Discussion section should occupy at least 60% of the manuscript.

8. Conclusion

The conclusion should:

  • Summarize key findings;

  • Address research objectives;

  • Present implications and recommendations;

  • Suggest directions for future research.

9. Acknowledgment (Optional)

Authors may acknowledge:

  • Research funding agencies;

  • Supporting institutions;

  • Research assistants;

  • Individuals contributing significantly to the study.

10. References

  • References must be arranged alphabetically.

  • All cited sources must appear in the reference list.

  • All references listed must be cited in the manuscript.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use recent scholarly sources from reputable national and international journals.


Citation and Reference Style

FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education uses:

APA Style (7th Edition)

Authors are required to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley;

  • Zotero;

  • EndNote.

Examples of in-text citations:

  • One author: (Shin, 2022)

  • Two authors: (Wardhaugh & Fuller, 2023)

  • Three or more authors: (Shin et al., 2022)

Examples of narrative citations:

  • Yang and Li (2021) stated that ...

For direct quotations, page numbers must be included:

  • (Couper & Watkins, 2016, p. 45)

  • (Benahnia & Brown, 2022, pp. 44–46)


Tables, Figures, and Equations

Tables

  • Tables should be simple and clearly presented.

  • Vertical lines should not be used.

  • Tables must be cited in the text before they appear.

Figures

  • Figures, diagrams, and graphs must be clear and of high quality.

  • Each figure must include a caption and be cited in the text.

Equations

  • Mathematical equations should be numbered consecutively.

  • Symbols and variables should be written consistently according to academic standards.


Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original;

  • The work has not been published elsewhere;

  • The manuscript is not under review by another journal;

  • All sources are properly cited;

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's Publication Ethics and Screening for Plagiarism policies.


Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software.

Requirements:

  • Maximum overall similarity: 20%

  • Maximum similarity from a single source: 5%

Manuscripts exceeding these limits may be returned for revision or rejected.


Submission Process

Authors should submit manuscripts through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS).

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

✓ The manuscript follows the journal template.

✓ References are written in APA 7th Edition format.

✓ The manuscript has been proofread.

✓ Tables and figures are properly formatted.

✓ Similarity requirements have been fulfilled.

Only manuscripts that meet the journal's requirements will proceed to the peer-review process.
