Peer Review Process

FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education implements a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all published articles. The journal employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

The review process consists of the following stages:

1. Initial Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the journal's online submission system. All submissions must comply with the journal's author guidelines, template, and publication ethics.

2. Editorial Screening

The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editors conduct an initial evaluation to assess:

  • The manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope;

  • Compliance with submission guidelines and formatting requirements;

  • Originality and academic quality;

  • Similarity level through plagiarism detection software.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected before entering the review stage.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the editorial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Originality and novelty;

  • Relevance to Islamic education studies;

  • Theoretical and methodological rigor;

  • Clarity of presentation and organization;

  • Validity of findings and conclusions;

  • Contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

The identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

4. Review Decision

Based on reviewers' recommendations, the editor may decide:

  • Accept Submission;

  • Minor Revisions Required;

  • Major Revisions Required;

  • Resubmit for Review;

  • Reject Submission.

The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

5. Revision Stage

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewers' and editors' comments. Revised manuscripts should be accompanied by a response letter explaining how each comment has been addressed.

6. Final Evaluation

The revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary. The editorial board then conducts a final assessment before making the publication decision.

7. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, language editing, formatting, and proofreading to ensure consistency and publication quality.

8. Publication

Articles that successfully complete all editorial and review stages are published in the current issue of FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education.

Review Timeline

The journal strives to complete the peer-review process within approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required.

Publication Ethics

Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, objectivity, fairness, and academic integrity throughout the review process. Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed to the editorial team.
