Screening Plagiarism
FAKTA: Journal of Islamic Education is committed to maintaining academic integrity and publishing only original scholarly works. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening as part of the editorial evaluation process before they are considered for peer review.
Plagiarism Screening Policy
The editorial team examines every submitted manuscript to ensure its originality and to detect potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, or improper citation practices.
The journal uses plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or other equivalent tools, to evaluate manuscript similarity.
Acceptable Similarity Level
Authors are expected to submit original manuscripts with a similarity index that demonstrates substantial originality.
As a general guideline:
-
Overall similarity should not exceed 20%;
-
Similarity from a single source should not exceed 5%;
-
Properly quoted text, references, bibliographies, and commonly used academic phrases may be excluded from the similarity assessment.
The editorial board may apply discretion when interpreting similarity reports, taking into account the nature and context of the detected similarities.
Types of Plagiarism
The journal considers the following practices unethical and unacceptable:
-
Direct plagiarism (copying text without proper citation);
-
Mosaic plagiarism (paraphrasing another work without acknowledgment);
-
Self-plagiarism (reusing one's own previously published work without proper citation);
-
Data plagiarism;
-
Duplicate or redundant publication;
-
Unauthorized use of figures, tables, images, or other copyrighted materials.
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is identified during the review process, the editorial board may take one or more of the following actions:
-
Request revision and proper citation;
-
Return the manuscript to the author for clarification;
-
Reject the manuscript;
-
Suspend the review process until ethical concerns are resolved.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to:
-
Publish corrections or notices of concern;
-
Retract the published article;
-
Notify the author's institution or relevant authorities when appropriate.
